Privacy Policy

Last updated October 8, 2026

This policy explains what information the Living Heritage mobile app and website use, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. In short: no account, no ads, no tracking, and your chat history stays on your phone.

1. Who we are

Living Heritage is a Project Bhaskar initiative, built and operated by Lake and Valley Creative Factory x Project Bhaskar (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy covers the Living Heritage mobile app for Android (package name me.adaptiv.livingheritage) and this website (together, the “Services”). It should be read alongside our Terms of Use.

If you have any question about your privacy, write to hello@adaptiv.me.

2. At a glance

  • You don't need an account, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number in the app.
  • The app has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking tools of any kind.
  • We don't sell your information or use it for advertising or profiling.
  • Your chat history is saved on your phone only — not on our servers.
  • Location is optional. The app only uses it while you have the app open, never in the background, and works without it.
  • The app doesn't use your camera, photos, contacts or microphone.

3. What we collect and why

Location (precise and approximate). If you allow it, the app reads your location while it's open. Most of this stays on your phone: showing where you are on the map, sorting places by distance, suggesting nearby places, and noticing when you reach a stop on a tour or walk. Your location is sent to our server only when a feature needs it:

  • when you send a message in the chat, so the guide can work out distances and what's nearby;
  • when you plan a route, so it can start from where you are; and
  • while you use in-app directions, so the route stays up to date as you walk or drive (your position is re-sent every few seconds or few dozen metres while directions are open).

You can say no to location, or turn it off later in your phone's settings — the rest of the app keeps working.

Chat messages. When you ask the guide something, the app sends your question to our server together with the last few messages of that conversation (up to 10), your chosen language, the place or fair you're looking at, and the places you've saved as favourites or added to your route (as place IDs, not personal details). Our server uses this to write the reply with the help of OpenAI (see section 5). Please don't include personal details such as your name, phone number or address in your messages — the guide doesn't need them.

Route planning. When you plan a route, the app sends the time you have, the interests you pick, how you're travelling, the current time and day, any places you want included, and your location if you've allowed it.

Reports about AI replies. If you report one of the guide's replies, we receive that reply, the question that led to it, the reason you chose, your language, the screen it came from, and the app version. We store the report in our database (hosted by Supabase), where only our team can see it, so we can review it and improve the guide.

Technical information. Each request from the app includes the app version and platform (Android), so we can tell you when an update is available. Like any internet service, our servers and the providers in section 5 see your device's IP address when the app connects to them. Our own server logs record only which kind of request was made, whether it worked and how long it took — not your messages or location. To deliver app updates, our update service (Expo) receives a random installation ID created by the app, the platform and the app version; it can't be used to identify you.

This website. If you join our waitlist, we store your email address, a system-generated ID and the time you signed up, and our team may be notified of the signup by email. The website itself has no analytics or advertising cookies.

What we don't collect. No name, email or phone number in the app, no contacts, photos, camera or microphone access, no payment details, and no advertising ID.

4. What stays on your phone

To make the app work offline and remember your preferences, it saves the following on your phone only: your favourites, your chat conversations, routes you've planned, walk and tour progress, your Pushkar fair plan and reminders, your language, and downloaded maps, photos and audio guides.

  • You can delete one conversation, or all of them with “Clear all conversations”, from Chat history in the app.
  • Clearing the app's data, or uninstalling the app, removes everything it saved.
  • Fair reminders are scheduled by your phone itself. The app doesn't use push notifications, so no notification token is sent to us.
  • If you've turned on Android backup, Android may include the app's saved data in your Google account backup. That backup is managed by Google under your account settings, not by us.

5. Service providers we use

We share information only with the service providers that run parts of the Services for us, and only what each one needs. We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.

  • OpenAI — writes the guide's chat replies and route suggestions. It receives your chat messages and the context listed in section 3; for route planning it also receives your location rounded to about 11 metres. It doesn't receive your exact location from the chat. Our requests ask OpenAI not to store the responses, and OpenAI handles API data under its own data controls.
  • OpenRouteService — calculates distances, travel times and directions. It receives the coordinates of the start, stops and end of a route, which can include your location.
  • OpenFreeMap — provides the map tiles. Like any map, loading tiles reveals the area you're viewing and your IP address.
  • Sanity — stores and serves our content, such as place descriptions, photos and audio guides.
  • Render — hosts our server.
  • Expo — delivers app updates.
  • Vercel — hosts this website, including the About, Terms and Privacy pages shown inside the app.
  • Supabase — stores waitlist signups from this website and reports about AI replies.
  • Our email provider — delivers waitlist notifications to our team.
  • YouTube — shows preview images for videos linked from some places. Videos open in the YouTube app or your browser.
  • Google Maps — only if you choose “Open in Maps app”, in which case the route (including your starting point) is handed to Google Maps under Google's own privacy policy.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or ourselves.

6. How long we keep it

  • Our server doesn't keep a database of app users. Chat messages, route requests and locations are used to answer the request and then discarded — the only exception is a short-lived memory cache of travel times (about 30 seconds), keyed by location rounded to roughly 100 metres.
  • Our hosting provider may keep standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for a limited period.
  • Reports about AI replies are kept only as long as we need to review them, and no longer than 12 months.
  • Waitlist emails are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until we no longer need them to tell people about the app.
  • Everything the app saves on your phone stays there until you delete it or uninstall the app.

7. How we protect it

Everything the app and website send travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Because there are no accounts, there are no passwords to leak, and we don't keep a store of app users' data — the only things we keep are reports you choose to send and waitlist signups. Access to our server, database, service accounts and team inbox is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the information we handle.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Turn location on or off at any time in your phone's settings under Apps → Living Heritage → Permissions.
  • The app asks for your permission before your first chat or route plan is sent to OpenAI. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings → AI guide, and it will ask again before sending anything.
  • Delete your chat conversations in the app, or uninstall it to remove everything it saved.
  • Ask us to access, correct or delete information we hold about you — such as a waitlist email or a report you sent — or to withdraw a consent you've given, as allowed by the laws that apply to you, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Write to hello@adaptiv.me and we'll aim to respond within 30 days.

9. Children

The Services aren't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you're under 18, please only use the Services with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. International transfers

Some of the service providers in section 5 process information on servers outside India, for example in the United States or Europe. We only send them what's needed for the feature you're using.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Services change. If we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page — please check back occasionally.
